Letter from the Superintendent

10-12-2016

With nine weeks already under our belt, I would say that we are off to a great start at Martin’s Mill Schools.  Students, teachers, and administrators are all working extra hard to make this year as successful as the last.  We are currently gearing up for a Robotics Competition, Junior High UIL Academics & One Act Play, as well as our quickly approaching Basketball seasons.  We are blessed to have a community that supports the school and all of the activities in which we participate.  Our success is derived from the high expectations that are set by teachers, parents, and most importantly, our students.  Fall Festival activities are in full swing and I want to remind and encourage everyone to participate in the festivities that will take place between now and October 29th.  I wanted to give a special thank you to the PTO, and all the other staff, that help make this a success every year, and provide needed resources to our school.

As we approach elections in November and a Legislative session in the spring, I can only hope that educating future generations will be at the top of every politician’s priority list.  Please take advantage of the privilege to cast your vote.  Now, more than ever, we need to spread the word about the great things that are happening in public education.  At Martin’s Mill, we are always trying to create more opportunities for our students.  Finding a niche for every student is always at the top of our priority list.  This year we added Psychology and Art Appreciation to the list of Dual Credit opportunities offered through Martin’s Mill.  We have also started taking our junior and senior students enrolled in Dual Credit classes to Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) for some of their coursework this year.  More support and funding from the State will only increase those opportunities.  Investing in our kids is investing in the future.

As we approach the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays, I encourage you to remember what is really important in this life.  Spend time with your kids every minute you get a chance.  For those of you with younger students read a book, play outside, or build a bird house.  They will move from your lap to a driver’s seat before you know it.  Always feel free to give us a call if you have any questions or concerns.
