Gov. Greg Abbott’s recent comments regarding masks have caused some concern and confusion around the state. In response to his announcement the Texas Education Agency responded that, “a public school system’s current practices on masks may continue unchanged.”
The wearing of masks by all of our employees, students and visitors, social distancing and other protocols that are currently in place in MMISD will remain. I believe the safety protocols that are in place are protecting everyone. We are safer because we have been working together to protect one another. I am excited about the state’s announcement that teachers and school support staff are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. Our employees care for our children and I am glad that those staff members that want the vaccine will now have access to it. Together we will continue to not only survive, but thrive!
